Many travelers glimpse these two mountains which so
suddenly rise out of the plains, sitting in an east to west configuration as
they adjoin the southern Sangre´
de Cristo range, without really experiencing their truly beautiful moments.
When we moved from Northern Colorado (Estes Park area) to
Southern Colorado in 1993, we settled in a beautiful log home halfway
between Walsenburg and La Veta, along US Hwy 160. We enjoyed a
fantastic view of the Spanish Peaks. This is a pencil drawing that I did of
the mountains from my studio there.

Many of my paintings of these mountains are adaptations of
this view, with snow on the peaks and morning light casting distinctive
shadows.
After viewing the mountains morning, afternoon, and
evening, summer, winter, spring and fall, in rain, fog, snow, sun and
storms, I was filled with an endless source of inspiration for paintings.
My paintings of the
Spanish Peaks are composites of various aspects of time and seasons, as I
attempt to recreate the feelings these mountains evoke. I rely on
photographs, memories, and my imagination to put together varying
interpretations of these geologic landmarks. The following paintings
are currently available for sale.
